Women have been the key when it comes to the power of influence regardless of the decisions being made. This is no different in the world of social media where women dominate on all social media sites with the exception of one - LinkedIn. The folks over at FinancesOnline.com have put together an impressive amount of information all laid out in an infographic that clearly demonstrates how women make use of social media.

The infographic shows that women use social media more often than men and that they also use these sites in many different ways.  More women tend to use the top social media sites and they dominate the in the fastest growing social networks which are visual-based. Pinterest is a perfect example of this with 33% of U.S. women online accessing Pinterest versus only 8% of men.

Another interesting point is that women are leading the trend when it comes to accessing social media via a mobile device. It is a close race however with 46% of women use their smartphones to check their social accounts followed closely behind by men at 43%. Women tend to interact with brands more often and for a wider range of reasons. They consume and share news more frequently than men which means that content and brands will more than likely be leaning towards women’s interests. This information is an invaluable tool when it comes to determining the path of your social media marketing efforts and messaging.   Social Media Infographic
